How long does it take before it starts working and how soon after having this can you have unprotected sex with a partner?

Hi dot, haven't seen you here for a while.... thanks for the advice but the last time I was on the pill and all was fine.

I'll obviously ask the doctor but I'm eager to find out as I'm not sure when I can get an appointment and my new guy comes to visit this Friday.

ok so he has produced a letter from the local clinic to say he has had all the tests and he is 100% free of any infections or lurking diseases that he himself may not have been aware of? Cool guy.

Jeanette.... some STD's lie dormant for years...

I think just make sure you know the history of your partner is all.... have the injection by all means... just perhaps go extra careful for a little while until you know where you're going with this and out of the initial lust stages.

I will do, (use a condom as well) he doesn't know that I want to have sex with him on Friday so I might not even do anything for a while longer.

Did you know the jab should be given in the first few days of your period? As long as it is given within the relevant time (the doctor or other health professional will advise) you should be protected from then on until the next injection is due.

You can get it from family planning clinics as well as the doctors. Many of these are on a walk in basis.

Make sure they go through everything properly with you as it's not suitable for everyone and there can be side effects (which can last as long as the injection does).

put it this way, I value my quality of life, after being with the same guy for 17 years, at the first hint that he may have been with someone else i got rid of him. I value my health more than that.

OH MY GOD.

I've just looked at pictures of Syphillis, crabs and herpes and I NEVER want to have sex ever again!!!!!! I feel sick....

Thanks all, if I hadn't have asked that question, I would never have looked at that STD site or really even thought about it.... just goes to show how silly we are and quick to jump in (or so to speak).
