Whats the next number in the sequence??

The next number is 6 (reasoning not disclosed for the moment). The sequence goes on from the posted sequence (... 5,5,4,3) 6,6,8,8,7, 7, ...

I am puzzled? I have just worked out the sequence and about to post it but why, crofter, are you not prepared to reveal the logig? Should I withhold it as well?

OK crofter, I've waited 20 minutes, and in the absence of any reason for withholding the logic, I will post it here.

Count the number of letters in the words:
zero(4), one(3), two(3), three(5), four(4), five(4), six(3) etc.

gen2 No good reason except to let others enjoy getting there! The setters of such problems often know the answer anyway. I wasn't trying to be obstructive or devious. I did intend to come back to the posting and give the logic if it was still unanswered.

In fact, the question has been answered with the 6 given.

The logic comes from counting the letters in the following ZERO ONE TWO THREE ... TEN (ELEVEN)

That's OK crofter. I wondered if you knew this was from some special quiz or other and that revealing too much was taboo - like the Rainbow quizzes that people here get so possessive about. I couldnt do Quball15 's code puzzle so will sleep on it. Night all.
