Email address on youtube

Why do they ask you for your email address if you view some videos on youtube? Is it safe, or do you get a load of spam mails?

personaly I have never had this happen to me on youtube but I would 100% reccomend never to give your e mail address out like this and think that everbody on here will tell you the same (ps what was your e mail address and your pin number to your bank account again) loll sorry for that) as the saying goes practice safe surfing

I have a hotmail email address that I never access, opened with totally false details and use for that sort of thing.

Some videos are flagged as unsuitable, so they prompt for you to log in to your you tube account (or create one), so that you agree that you're over 18, so if you see anything like porn, you can't sue for being underage.

Either do as ethel suggests and use some false email address for just this purpose, or use the spamgourmet service and sign up using false details with a spamgourmet address; more information here:

Could you tell me how to open one of those hotmail email addresses please Ethel? Will it interfere with my present Email address? Or would it be best to open another email address with my present server?
