I have seen Windows XP service pack 2 prevent two computers from ever booting again. Have I been unlucky or is the SP2 a service pack too far?

I have it installed on my pc without problem but apparently it has caused a few problems elsewhere.

The first one I installed it on refused to even recognize any of the drives until I performed a hard re-set. The next 2 PCs accepted it with no problems. I had carried out file and registry cleanups and defragged all 3 before installing.It does seem very hit and miss.
