help my yucca plant!!!!!!!

I bought a yucca plant in Sept last year and two months ago the leaves started to wither and the tips are brown with a yellow area between the brown & green. I read it may be because i was over watering the plant so i have been very careful to only water it about every 3 weeks and also limiting the amount of water given. Can i cut off the brown ends and if i do, do i cut the whole leaf off, just the brown area or the brown and yellow area.

Could this also happen due to lack of light?? I am wanting to put the plant in the conservatory as there is limited light in the living room but am frightend that it will be too cold in there as when the heating is not on it can be a chilly room. Any advice???????????

I agree, it sounds like the classic symptoms of over-watering and hopefully now with your new regeme, the Yucca will soon be back on the road to recovery!
Yesterdays yellow, useually turns out to be tommorows brown, so you may as well cut back beyond the yellow too.
Cut with scissors from each side, at an angle so that the leaves have a point (they will look better and recover quicker too)
If the light levels where low then, yes this may also have contributed to it looking poorly.
If you have the option of the conservatory, I think it might fair better in there, as they do prefer good light.
