after doing a wash load the conditioner bit in the tray always fills up with water.

You need to pull the dispenser out completely and give all the bits a very good clean.

With hot water and bleach wipe out the compartment as best as you can - I use a bottle brush.

Now, look for the jets in the roof of the compartment. These have become blocked over time. Use a suitable tool such as a cocktail stick, straw, plastic tie to get any gunge out of the holes. Be careful not to snap anything you use and get it stuck!

Use biological powder (it must be biological powder - the cheapest will do) run the machine empty on the hottest wash. This will give the machine a good clean and kill any bacteria.

The water should now run freely through your dispenser drawer.
