I've just found a quote from a company called legalmove.com who are quoting �190 for the sale of a house, which seems rediculously cheap (I would generally expect to pay �6-700). Has anybody any experience of this company, sounds a bit too good to be true!

Such organisations are specialists and only do property conveyancing work. They do not employ people with full Law Society credentials (solicitors) and hence don't have the overheads or salary structures. I am willing to bet that if you chose to use your local high street solicitors practice, the person who will actually do the work on your house will be a Licensed Conveyancer anyway - working under the management of a full solicitor.
Whilst I wouldn't (yet) be happy to BUY a property using one, once its sold, its gone.

Just beware, through my past of selling houses I have found that the cheaper ones have loads of add ons and are slow. I'm not sure whether the �600-�700 you quote includes disbursements which you will have to pay with all of the companies you use. If the �600-�700 does not include disbursements then it would seem expensive. I would shop around and ask around and go for one that's about middle of the price range. Last thing you want to do is use someone who is slow which ultimately may loose you the sale on the house. Most conveyancing companies offer a service whereby you can view your account on-line, which is great because you can monitor where they are up to.

�190? What hourly rate of charge - and how long - does that represent?
Say gross rate is �60 per hour. After overheads, that probably leaves �15-20; not a lot for skilled work.
And it limits work to about 3 hours. That's really insufficient for a proper conveyancing service to you as a customer.
You'd be better off paying a proper price and having confidence in a proper service. Cheap and nasty bodge jobs cost more, not less, in the long run.

i have just used a company recommened to me by legal move and i was more than happy with the work they did, i have moved several times and always use a conveyancer and would not use a solicitor, the quote they gave you sounds reasonable to me they do the same job as a solicitor but charge a lot less, i would use a conveyancer every time and always recommend them to anyone who is moving.NETHER EDGE, have you ever used a conveyancer? what do you base your knowledge on?
I actually work for a firm of solicitors (who shall remain nameless) who also advertise similar prices. Beware - there will always be things added on like a charge to redeem any oustanding mortgage, or a charge to telegraphically transfer money through the banking system. Make sure you get a quote in writing together with a full copy of their terms and conditions and make sure you read ALL the small print as once you have signed and agreed to their terms and conditions you will have no recourse if the final figures turns out to be more than you expected
