since i posted my first question. my boiler now does not heat the water or the heating, the pilot light is on, it tries to fire up, and you can hear the rattle, "must of been the death rattle". it is a hawk II 9751L50845. i need the help of the gasman.
Is the system up to pressure as it won't flare up if it isn't. Have a look at the pressure bar read out - see what it should be normally and see if it needs re-doing.
I think it's best to call someone in - it might just need refilling and re-pressurising and that shoudlnt cost much.
I had a similar problem a few years back. It turned out the pipe from the tank in the loft was blocked, so everytime the boiler tried to fire up, it turned off in about ten seconds because it was only heating air instead of water. Just a thought, but you really do need the advice of a pro.
thanks alot for your answers. i was hoping it would be something i could do myself as, they don't normaly come out at weekends, unless your willing to pay loads. expect i'll have to pay over the odds. last time i was quoted 190.00 when the timer went. i bought it for 70.00 and it was just a case of replacing it wire for wire, 5 min job.easy. they must be one of the best paid professions going.
