On my new notebook, keyboard has alt gr does not appear to do anything any ideas please folks ?

It's Alternate Graphics

It makes different keys type different symbols in some software programmes.

For example, in this reply box, if I hold alt gr and e I get �.

Have a play and you'll see what it does.
