OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please be calm and don't despair. However NTL customer service is appalling.
I am a modern professional woman, who is used to teaching adults various skills for a living. But I was reduced to tears by an "alledged" customer service person at NTL. I was spoken to like I was dirt, threatened with baliffs, for a bill of �18, which I didn't owe as I had stopped receiving their services (excuse the pun!) 3 months earlier and had actually overpaid by �70. I was taken seriously when I informed them I had forwarded my correspondance and bills from them to my solicitor (which was not true).
Don't deal with them unless you have to and cancel your agreement asap.
