Panasonic dvd crash

I have a Panasonic dvd recorder and when you have finished filming you have to Close The Disc.

My latest disc seems to have crashed and there appears to be no info/film of recent trip.

How can I tell if the filming is still on the disc (dvd-r) and how can I rcover it.

try on a friend's recorder or a pc, but I wouldn't hold out much hope..
