Tyre disposal

None of the council tips in my area will permit the disposal of car tyres. Is there any lagal way that these can be disposed of?

Most tyre fitters charge you for the disposal of tyres when you buy new ones. Might be worth asking your local Kwik fit if they would do it for a small charge. It will basically entail their spotty work experience lad carrying them to their dump site but at least you will know you did your bit.

I live in the US and I have yet to have a tire service station charge me for disposing of my old tires especially when purchasing new ones. I'm cute so maybe that helps?lol!!!

It's a pity that both Mr.Nose & chevrolet ignored my request for LEGAL disposal of tyres. Burning tyres in smokeless zones, of which most of urban Britain is included, is illegal.
Dumping them on Kwickfit out of hours constitutes Fly tipping which is also illegal.
Regarding keylamay's responce, any answer from the USA would be unlikely to have much bearing on UK law as the legal system is quite different over there.
The only helpful responce so far is from Sarnieken. Thanks for a responsible responce, I have in fact spoken to an independant tyre fitter who tells me that he pays �1 for every worn tyre that is collected from his premises. This cost is added to the cost of the new tryes which he supplies, so please don't let anyone kid themselves who pays for this service!

Must add - the council don't even try to get them off the fires - they'd probably say goodbye to their kneecaps.
