I'm due to return to work April 26th, however working in a school, the new term starts a week before so I decided to go back at the beginning of the term to make it easier for all concerned. I'd planned to continue with my hours as usual from April to July and then maybe go part time come September as paying for full time childcare means I'll be breaking even -I don't think there's any point in our daughter being away from both parents from 8am - 6pm when there's no financial gain.
Anyway, Yesterday I was asked to go back a month earlier :( I don't really want to but I'm thinking, if I don't do this for my boss then would she make life difficult for me in September and decline my request for part time work... I'll just add that I'm on a permanent contract for the mornings but only fixed term for the afternoons.
Also, will this affect my maternity pay? will I have to pay some back if I return earlier or will it just cancel out once I return?
Thanks Badgerchops, I've decided not to do it anyway, I went into work yesterday to agree to do it until the bombshell dropped, They want me to go back two months earlier now! how cheeky is that? lol
god they are taking the p1ss. no way. this is your entitlement and they should make provisions for that. stand your ground. you don't need to butter them up for sept / part time because i think they will play you up then. They are clearly short staffed now.
