shy 4 year old
my son , he finds it difficult to join in with his peers, he dont even smile as he is so shy. i just worry if he dont talk to children then he'll have no friends. he started school and is wetting himself rather than asking or getting up in front of everyone to go to the loo. its frustrating to see him like this as at home or round people he knows well, he is the entertainer, toatally the opposite, not at all shy.I would love any ideas on how to bring him out of himself, to be more confident.

if he is feeling lost and lonely, perhaps he could be paired up with a similair child, like buddie,s to play together and give confidence, or maybe u make friends with oter parents and invite a child to come for tea, one at a time may better than loads of kids all at same time. he prob just needs time and confidence.
good luck.

Perhaps you could start by getting him to interact with other children at home if this is where he feels most comfortable? then gradually getting him to interact with more children at your home then doing this in a more public place like a park of swimming pool.
it sounds to me like he may be lacking in confidence, so just try to build up his confidence with other children and public places.
good luck
