We have recently been visited by a large black fluffy cat, which is wanting to come into the house through the dog flap in the back door. Our dog is not very helpful, as she is SCARED of the cat and wont scare it away. We want to scare it away for good somehow but dont want to buy a 'DEVICE' from the shop. We are concerned it will come into the house whilst we are asleep or in work! (Dont fancy coming back to find a cat on the kitchen worktop....yuk!) Has anyone ever heard of throwing water over a cat to scare it away. Does it work? Is this too cruel? Any suggestions please!
A water pistol or little spray gun I think would be a lot less cruel but have the same effect, that's if you can catch it. I have a similar problem where a certain cat keeps coming in via our cat flap and eating all my cats dinner. I have tried chasing her off but she keeps on coming.
Unlesss you can try one of those collars which can open the flap, and stop others coming in,I don't know the answer!
We had problems with local cats pooping in our gravel , Try planting a lavender plant near the dog flap , or try pepper dust , its a brand name for cat deterrent. Most shops like wilkinson or home bargains sell it. , check first tho if it will upset your dog.
