hi, have been taking ranitidine daily (300 mg) for a couple of years and have now found out that long term dosage is probably not good for you. I have seen an american web-site that claims to relieve all problems of acid reflux and indigestion without tablets by using something you can buy from a grocer shop. they won't say what it is unless you pay online, so I haven't chanced it yet. does anyone know what it might be?
thanks, alf.

Don't buy whatever they are selling.

Ask your doctor if he is prescribing the ranitidine or the pharmacist if you are buying it over the counter - they will both be able to give you the pros and cons of this medication. I took it for a while, but it made me constipated.

Try sites like http://www.netdoctor.co.uk/

Could your Dr prescribe a more heavy duty ant acid like Omeprazole, for a short period. This may stabalize your condition.
taking zantac long term could be masking another problem as they where made to treat ulcers .
you could try rennies and if problem persisting see your doc.
at one time these were only available by prescription and many medics frown upon over the counter drugs many of which are taken for the wrong problems.
I suspect it might be plain old bicarbonate of soda.
