Cannot upgrade to Aol 9.0

I recently tried to upgrade to Aol 9.0 from 6.0 but kept on getting a message saying"Cannot detect a modem" so wasn't able to dial up with it. I am using windows xp with a packard bell computer. Has anyone got any idea what the problem might be?

thats AOL for ya!!! try a proper ISP that give you the choice of software u use. AOL 9 totally screwed with my PC to the point AOL couldnt suggest anything apart from format the drive. Useless.

i think aol9 needs to be installed on top of aol7. The aol disks you can pick up at dixons currys etc have both 7 & 9 on them. Aol9 is basically aol7 with lots of flashy bits added on.
