my mums friend used to smoke but quit, but when she and my mum go out she will have a cigarette, but feels no need for one at any other time. Whether this is just incredible self control or not being addicted I don't know but i suppose it sort of shows that it is possible to smoke occasionally without "needing" to smoke every day
Yes it is possible but as a smoker I personally wouldn't advise it, as Sophie 1003 says it could be incredible self control but as with all addictive substances it is all too easy to allow this figure to creep up without actually realising it. If ,for example, someone decided to limit themselves to five cigarettes a month and stuck to that religiously then for some reason, one month they decided that they needed another and had one, what does this mean for the next month, is six now an acceptable limit? And so it could go on.

ive only ever had one cigarette, and i have gotten some SERIOUS second hand smoke from when I was younger, going to a smoke filled pu in ireland every friday night from the age of 2 to about 7. I just want to smoke because i enjoy it in a way, I want to have the freedom to, and just... well, its like asking someone why they like to drink. Same thing. And my parents are the same with only smoking every now and again. I used to say I would never smoke, but whats the point in being SO strict with yourself if you are going to de anyway, then when you look back you'll just be saying "Damn, I missed out..."

so Im probobly only going to smoke when Im out.
If you can stick to that then fair play to you. I didn't smoke until I was 21 and should have known better. One evening I asked one of my friends for a cigarette, I cant explain why, just did and I smoked it. Didn't have another or even think of them until a couple of weeks later then did the same. This went on for a couple of months then I realised I was asking the same person everytime and decided to buy my own. I bought 20 and had them for another 6 weeks but gradually over time the number I was smoking and the frequency I was smoking increased. I always considered myself a social smoker who could give up at any time but before I knew it I was smoking 10 a day every day and the rest as they say is history.

Hopefully you will not fall into the same pattern as me .
If you want to die pretty/Die Pretty dont smoke. I have been addicted for45 years and have just given up.
If you don't want one right now, chances are you're not.
There is nothing interesting about smoking
Is there still a thread in Suggestions for the 'Most Stupid Post' award, does anyone know?
