My boiler has stopped heating the hot water supply. The heating still works. I've checked the pilot light and the thermostat controls. I'd like to avoid an expensive engineer -Any ideas anyone?
If you have a combi boiler, check the water pressure. If the pressure is low, bring it back up with the taps near the boiler and the water should be warm again.
Could be the Motorized valve, this controls the water flow from the boiler to either the hot water tank or the c/heating. It looks like a pressed tin box about the size of 10x5x5cm with normally 3 pipes going in to it, it may well have a small lever on one side that you can manually change to alter which one it heats up.
I had a similar problem and it was caused my a simple microswitch that had bent to the point that it wouldn`t make contact. I found a good honest plumber who fixed it in minutes. No parts required and a reasonable price. Good luck!!
