Where can one find out if someone has applied for a licence to get married in Scotland?

I think the bands need to be posted at a regisrty office. I think what happens is that the names are put on display,outside the office, so if any one has an objection to the marriage they can speak out against it before the date.

Thank you for that. I don't suppose there is any way of knowing or finding a list of people getting married on 27th January is there?

I know each registry office displays the banns for the weddings to be carried out there, but I don't know if there is a central register.

Maybe a call to your local registry office just to enquire if there is a central list would be your best bet.

the banns are displayed 21 days prior to the wedding
for objection purposes etc.i am unsure if there is a
central office though.
