Earache - quick fix

I'm just getting over a nasty bout of bronchitis & have finshed my antibiotics, however for the last few days I've been getting really bad stabbing pains in my right ear.

The nurse said my ear was clear, but recommended strong painkillers which I've been taking, but it won't subside.

Any ideas for a quick fix - apart from a clump over the head with a mallet?

Thank you.

Ancient Irish granny recipe is to boil a small onion, wrap it in cotton and stick it in your ear. It does work I have no idea why, probably just the heat, but it does work.

Thank you for that advice Nox - it sounded quite amusing sticking oniony cotton wool in my ear, but it's been so painful I will give it a try. -x-

P.S. I've been dying to get back to my swimming since before Christmas, but what with the broch's now this, the sooner it clears up the better!

Off out now, thank you again.
Carakeel just had the exact same, bronchitis followed by ear ache and taking antibiotics, the ear ache progressed to a perforated ear drum. get back to your Dr and tell him you want more antibiotics!!

Hi RATTER - sorry to hear about Carakeel - hope he/she feels better soon. (Sorry can't remember if Carakeel's a he or she now).

Although it's been sunny here, It's still quite windy & cold, so I'm glad I had some cotton wool in my ear when I was out earlier!

My husband is just boiling an onion, so I can try out Nox's remedy, but if this pain persists after the weekend, I shall make an appointment to see the Doc again, rather than the nurse.

Thank you for caring.
