I bought sconces for my living room.. over couch they are half moon someone has suggested there not correct over the couch .. I expect to hang either art work or mirror .. what do you think?

If you actually intend to burn candles in the sconces then maybe over a couch isn't a good idea, unless you want to drip hot candle wax onto your shoulders and soft furnishings! Sconces tend to look good either side of a window or either side of a picture or mirror, especially over a fireplace.
