Contract issue at work
I work for a large local authority and they're currently going through a harmonisation where all staff are bought together in a proper banding and grading scale. For years, everyone has had their own contracts due to being with private companies and now we're all back "in house"
The problem is, i've been told that i'm one of a few members of staff that will have their wages reduced to be brought into line with the others. A senior manager also told us that our contracts can be hypothetically ripped up and you either take the new one or good bye.
Sounds a little bit cowboyish if they can do that....would anyone know where i stand....i can't afford to take a reduction in wages and will almost certainly lose my house if i do.
Many thanks
