Things must be bad if you are thinking about giving your baby medication to help him sleep. Please go see your health visitor to check everything is OK and to get some help with establishing a good bedtime routine. It may take a bit of hard work and time but you will get through this. Let us know how you get on.
Bammer,
Why not try a lavender bath before bedtime, a strict (ish) bedtime routine, no drinks that may hyper your baby up, a quiet time before bed with a story being read or a soft song being sung, a whale song cd etc?
You could also buy the lavender room plug-in thingys from boots - this isnt medication, but to be honest, my hubby uses a stand alone difuser beside his bed when he finds it hard to sleep and its wonderful!
PLEASE do try and find out why babys not sleeping thou, could be a real reason and you wouldnt want it to carry on without advice.

Phenegan is known for its sedative qualities. Sadly, i've only known people use it for the wrong reasons. I knew a lady ho gave it to her 7 yr old son who was suffering from ADHD, as a way of getting him to sleep. Social services found out and she VERY nearly lost him and her 3 other children. They had been given photos by a concerned neighbour who used to watch her call him infrom playing at around 6:30pm and give him two TABLESPOONs full of the stuff! The poor sod slept alright......and was constantly late for school which is a whole other story.
PLEASE dont rely on something like that - seek medical advice and if your GP reccommends it then all well and good - at least you'd be using the correct doseage.
Good luck
