ipod genres

i have put all my artist and groups into different genres,the problem is that if i search for say example billy ocean,which all tracks are listed as 80's,but when you search under artist on my pod it brings up 2 billy oceans,5 songs in 1 and 3 in the other folder,and yet all information is the same i'm confused anyone help?

In iTunes check the Music Tag which stores all the information about the song maybe the name Billy Ocean on some of the songs has a hidden space in it which means its listed as different or if its not a capital letter i think it differs, just check the names on all the songs are exactly "Billy Ocean", if that doesn't help then im not sure.

georgeous is right on the mark. in iTunes, highlight both artists, then right-click and click 'get info'. that'll let you rename the artist's name for all the songs, so that it's the same.
