You apply it over a five day period and it gradually builds your tan , whilst leaving your skin feeling lovely and smooth. It has a pleasant smell and doesn't have the telltale orange look of many fake tans. You can choose from two shades , depending on your own natural skin tone and it gives a natural looking glow to your skin. In fact , that's what it's called , 'Dove summer glow' and you can buy it at many supermarkets , chemists and most places which sell cosmetics. I usually pick it up in Sainsbury's for 4.99 but you can also get it in places like Bodycare or savers where it may be a bit cheaper. I have often bought it in Superdrug when it's been on promotion. It's not greasy , orangey and does not leave streaks so you can have a natural looking tan but make sure to exfoliate your skin regularly to stop it looking patchy.
Perhaps with a really cheap one mickyilly but the Dove one is the closest thing you'll get to a natural looking colour and is very popular. The mistake a lot of people make though is just whacking on the fake tan without first properly exfoliating their skin and this will always result in the patchy look , like the "Baked bean toes" you described. The good thing about the Dove moisturiser is that it appears gradually over a few days and you get an indication of how it looks from day one. If you are not happy with it , then you stop using it and it will disappear. With a bottled fake tan , your skin stays pale and you don't see the effects until it has fully appeared - which can more often than not look the wrong colour , be streaky or patchy. You are stuck with this until it fades - unlike with the moisturiser which blends into your skin , keeps it silky smooth and will show you a fine hint of the colour you can expect until it builds up.
You're very welcome tweenyb. I hope that you are happy with the colour it gives you. I personally swear by it and it's good that it comes in two different shades to compliment different skin tones. (Fair to medium and medium to dark) It's worth noting that it has a freephone customer careline on the back of the product and if you are not happy at all then give them a call and let them know why. My friend did this as she found that it came out patchy but when she called to complain , they asked her if she exfoliated first - which she hadn't - and they gave her good advice apparently about how she was effectively putting the moisuriser on top of dead skin so it would just effectively sit on top of it instead of absorbing into the skin and they also apologised for her not being satisfied with it and gave her a 5 voucher to buy any Dove product. You'd think that I worked for Dove the way i'm banging on about them lol ! I don't but I really liked this product and it's now one of my favourites. Everyone's different though and it may not suit you but I find it to be very natural looking and hey , if it doesn't suit you , then i'm sure you'll get a freebie from Dove to buy something else lol ! Anyway , glad to help x
Which shade did you use Goodsoulette ? Was it maybe too dark for your skin tone ? I use the fair to medium as I am fair skinned and I haven't had a problem with it. It gives me a lovely golden glow - nothing like Kat Slater lol ! It maybe varies from person to person but I exfoliate really well to make sure it's not patchy. I've never had a problem with it fading either. It just disappears if I don't top it up. Each to their own though I suppose. Good luck in whatever you choose tweenyb x
