Rabbits miaw?

Do rabbits miaow?(as in miaow like cats?) I was talking to my rabbit today and she was hopping around and kept making like purring noises and a kind of miaow noise she seemed quite energetic and excited and my friend said she thinks they do miaow?
Any info would be great :)

Quite strange right but yes they are known to honk in most books it says that when they purr and grind thier teeth they are content but my rabbit makes a grunting sort of sound when my daugter winds him up! when hes agitated but then our rabbit is a grumpy little so and so!! hope this helps freak xx

I have never heard of such a thing in my life, are you sure its a rabbit?

A rabbit has long ears and a short tail!!
A cat has short ears and a long tail!!

babybop - cheers for that yeah she was hopping around purring a little (wasnt a purring as if in pain though as she seemed really happy) then shed make a really loud puur every so often - the first time i heard her loud purr i thought shed passed wind or something hehe!

I'm much more used to eating rabbits than petting them!!

When I used to hunt rabbits to sell, I would always skin and paunch them, but I always had to leave the front feet intact as the butcher needed to be able to prove to prospective buyers that they were in fact rabbits and not cats!!

oi oi :p out of curiousity have you ever tasted rabbit? I remember when i was about 4 my grandad used to eat rabbit stew!

Rabbits do definately make low grunting noises usually when they are feeling frisky according to my vet !!!

freak, if you are asking me if I have tasted rabbit, yes many many times, at one time i would eat rabbit about once a week. Rabbit stew is lovely but best in a pie or roasted!!

Best soaked in little slightly salted water overnight and tastes more like strongly flavoured chicken than anything else, texture is very similar as well.

Yes Freak, just wild rabbits, many years ago I bought a couple of ferrets to hunt rabbits, I got interested in ferrets and a year or two later I got into ferret rescue and housed up to 45 ferrets at a time, and all being fed on their natural diet being rabbit, so I then bought a lurcher to help me catch more rabbits to feed the ferrets, I had a large chest freezer stocked to the limits with rabbits, so I ate some and the ferrets ate about 6 rabbits a day between them.
