Parking Ticket Query

I parked in an outdoor car park this morning. However, the thick snow underfoot meant that the parking slot markings on the ground weren't at all visible, so I had to guess where to park in relation to the parking bays. I returned to my car at midday (the snow had disappeared by this stage) to find that by chance I had parked across two parking slots + a nice �30 parking ticket on my windscreen!
Would I be able to succesfully appeal against this if I explained the situation to the Council?

Hi There, If you have a Parking Ticket Stating the time you Parked and the Time you came back and if the car Park was covered in snow when you entered then Take this up with the Council and if you are Correct with what you say your appeal should be upheld. Good Luck. ALLIGATOR

most car parks have cctv so it should be easy enough to prove one way or another, however, they may argue that ignorance is no defence - you could have got out the car and checked by simply kicking a bit of snow out the way.
