Spoilers of Movie.

I do not have the special edition of this movie so I was wondering if anybody can help me.

1) Are the Cave Creatures supposed to be offspring of the Victorian climbers who become lost in there?

2) Was the Elk supposed to be killed by the Cave Creatures, In the movie it is suggested the creatures go outside and hunt. If this is the case why are they blind, or was it mere supposition from Sarah?

I assumed as no explanation was given that the creatures had always been there, folk who at some point in evolution decided to remain in the caves & evolved accordingly.

Regarding hunting, it's possible that some animals fell in by accident or they pick off the old & the sick animals if they go outside.
