does anyone remember a short programme, might have been called red and blue or something about a red bit of clay and a blue bit?

Yep, done with Red & Blue plasticine and called Red & Blue (how do they do it)?. It was Czech or some other nearby country. http://www.bluejam20.freeserve.co.uk/fourwhere.htm
