Listen to the Libertines' two albums and you will see. With Carl Barat, he was part of a superb songwriting team and is actually an incredibly intelligent chap- I believe he got ten A*s at GCSE.

Drugs and crime are less a matter of intelligence - or lack of it - and far more to do with circumstances.

Individuals deal with the things that happen to them in different ways - some well, some not so well, some downright badly - and we as the lucky ones (we have access to a cimputer, and the knowledge and language skills to us it) should offer our compassion to people who'se life choices may not be all they could have, or should have been.

And think that with a different set of circumstances, the less fortunate people on whome we pronouce could be us.... and maybe still will?

It's worth thinking about.

He's written some wonderful songs. I didn't have much time at all for the guy, but decided I should listen to his music, to find out why he was so popular. Listen to the Libertines' "Music When the Lights Go Out"...brillliant.

I like his music, don't know him so can't really comment on what he's like. Seems to me the police just want to arrest his cos he's famous and know he's probably gonna have a bit of smack on him. It's not as though he's on the thieve up to feed his habit. Live and let live.
