Herm is in the English Channel which Pear Cyclopaedia describes as "narrow sea separating England from France" :O)
Herm is just off the coast of Guernsey ie should be the Channel
sorry - that should be Pears! :O)
I don't think the channel is a sea.

Sounds like one of these trick questions, when is a channel a sea
well it sure ain't no duck pond!! Seriously though, Chambers definition of channel is a narrow sea. The English Channel extends from the Strait of Dover to Land's End. If you ever listen to the sailing reports they talk about the boats "going out into the Atlantic". :O)

Thanks Dustybun...........you have put my mind to rest and I will sleep well now... :-)
Must be the Channel. If it was in the Atlantic the word "ocean" would have been in the question.
As a Guernseyman, I can tell you that the Channel Islands are in the English Channel ! (Fr. Isles de la Manche).

Can never think why the French didn't call it the French Channel.
