Hey,

My dad volunteers at a railway preservation society - he was saying the other night that they were having issues with the laying of some extra tracks and bizarrely non-matching-up fishplates - thermit welding was suggested. Neither of us have any idea where to find suppliers of ready mixed welding thermite - anyone know any UK suppliers?

Thanks

or you could make your own. it's incredibly easy, all you do is mix powdered aluminium and powdered iron oxide (rust) at a ratio of 8 rusts to 3 aluminiums (by weight). neither of these chemicals are hard to find, i'd imagine you'd have no problem getting them with what they're intended for as railway welding with thermite is fairly common. try www.timstar.co.uk
