In XP, every time i log on to the net, i get a bubble come up saying "You are now connected at 1.1Mbs" with 2 little blue tv screens that show internet activity. I need to keep the tv icon on while connected, but can i turn off the annoying speech-bubble-y thing everytime i log on?
hehe, sorry. you have to put up with it like the rest of us :p.
It's almost certainly possible to disable it in the registry...just you really really need to know what you are doing. I wouldn't reccomend you do anything there unless you want to fubar your pc accidently _
There's a little program that will let you tweak this. I've used it on my machine and got rid of the annoyance, but I can't remember just what it is. It's in my downloads somewhere.
I'll post a reference when I 've found it
pinus is correct you dont have to put up with it download Xp-Antispy from http://www.xp-antispy.org/ its free that will turn off the bubble help as well as other features of XP you may not want.
hehe, whoops. I didn't know about that.
I'm connected by lan as of today though, so this program came a little too late >_<
At least some people are better informed than me though :p
Its never too late. Even connected through LAN, if you opt to have the connection icon present on you taskbar, you will get the `annoying speech-bubble-y-thing'
Personally, I find it useful to be advised the instant I am connected and at what speed.
Pushy11 - no, im in essex. Broadband is pretty much everywhere now, but if you want a meg, you have to live quite close to the telephone exchange. Im with BTyahoo.
