Hi was wondering if after 2years in a temp contract, should it me made permnant? Thanks very much

However, there's been a number of Tribunal cases where the company has had to take on the responsibilities of employer (to pay redundancy etc) because of the way the agreement has been set up.

I too work as a temp in Local Governament and have done for over two years. There is a restructure going on and as yet i am in limbo as to whether i will be told im surplus to requirements or whether i'll get a permanent contract (despite the fact they know id like to stay). I have looked into whether i have rights, but it seems that as a temp (regardless of how long ive been here) my rights arent the same as those of a perm member of staff. However, i am able to join the union. But im afraid theres no guarnatee that a temp job will be made perm.
