InDesign CS2

Can you make an Item non-printing?. In Quark it is called suppressing output, and in Illustrator CS2 and Photoshop CS2 it's non-printing, but can not find anything using Indesign to do this. Have been on Adobe Help center and through the Classroom in a book but to no avail.
