I'm being the quiz master for the bar I use tomorrow and I'm very nervous.
The standing up in front of everyone and asking questions doesn't actually bother me so much... tho I'm not entirely happy about it either. And a lot of the people that will be there are friends and collegues.
However I am actually really scared of letting everyone down and the whole thing being a complete flop etc etc....
Has anyone ever done anything like this and felt the same way? If so, what did you do to not feel like 'everybodies fool'?
Cheers China/Mucky/Shy/(Anything else you care to call me) xx
I'd like to help you-but you took my fondant fancies off me :-(
Oh ok....
Have a few drinks beforehand- obviously not too many, I should imagine you falling face 1st on the stage/bucket/platform/ whatever would be slightly embarrassing. Just enough to relax you.
Mind you, watching ya fall arse over t1t would be very funny, any tickets going?
I did it a couple of years ago, & I found the best thing was writing the quiz. I did mine on a theme of fish or fowl (nicked from Mark & Lard).
Q.What part did Ian Lavendar play in Dads Army?
A.Private Pike
China, it'll be a breeze, i have every faith in you that you will pull it off and be a total success, they will never again ask anyone other than China Doll (i like that name best) to be their quiz master!
I for one, look forward to hearing you basking in your new found glory of quiz master extraordinaire!!!!!!
One way to not feel the fool is to not act the fool.
This is easily accomplished by following a small pre-routine which will help focus the mind before you start. Remember, to fail to prepare is to prepare to fail.
1. Make sure the answers to the questions are correct. You'll always get someone who quibbles that it was 3pm in 1066 not 14.55. 2..Indulge in a tequila slammer, or tequila boomer if you don't like it neat 3. Start out with a humorous anecdote such as the time you sat on the fence and pulled things out of your botty
Relax and enjoy it. But mostly, ..be the master and take no prisoners.
