It had the best animation of it's time and the music by Vince DiCola was fantastic.
Top Gun
Saw it when I was 15. High adrenaline action, high octane jets, best dogfighting sequences ever put to film, outstanding sound that rips through your seat and enveliopes you in the action, catchy catchphrases used every day since then and Meg Ryan when she was cute.
Stakeout
Funniest film I'd seen to date. Richard Dreyfuss is my fave actor. Partnership with Emilio Estevez worked really well.

Easy! 1 - Bad Day at Black Rock
Spencer Tracy as a one-armed goody and Lee Marvin as a wonderful baddy in a one horse town in the 50s
2 - Sunset Boulevard
Brilliant film, turns a full circle (45 years before Quentin did it in Pulp Fiction) and you've got to watch it for the really famous extras
3 - The Searchers
John Wayne and his tiny feet (for a big bloke) at his best, keep reading between the lines for the real story

My favourites are
1 - romeo and juliet, just because it's been made so well (in my opinion) and is a great watch
2 - The butterfly effect, because the storyline is amazing, it's a good watch and at times, very emotional.
3 - cast away, this film makes me cry EVERY time I watch it... some people hate it but it's really really good!!

Top Gun - Loved it and made me want to join the RAF. A recent girlfriend and a prog on Channel 4 highlighted the homosexuality aspect of it and it just tarnished the whole film for me. Still love the dogfighting though.
Italian Job - Classic comedy with cars, amazing dialogue and a two-fingered salute to anyone who isn't English in a pre EU time.
Airplane - of all the comedies, this one has to be the yardstick for everything funny since then.
