Nothing for me, but I must relate a story told by a gentleman I used to work with - now retired. The story concerned his first visit to his girlfriend's parents, but he and his girlfriend have beenb married for over forty years, so this incident obviously didn't put them off.
Picture the scene - 1944 - a naval stoker who has been at sea with the Russian convoys in the Antarctic for weeks on end, cooped up with a load of rough sailors, living cheek-by-jowl, and developing a way of interaction that comes to men in such circumstances.
Sitting at the table in his girlfriend's parents' house, he is really nervous, and trying hard to mind his manners, when, in a moment of forgetfullness, he is mentally transferred back to the galley on his destroyer, and he turns to his (as it turns out) future mother-in-law, and asks her in ringing tones to "Pass the f**cking butter!"
More tea anyone?
