I thought (and tried) pouring vinegar in with water and boiling it, then pouring away and repeating until necessary. Then just keep boiling water in it until the vinegar smell disappears! (Oh and it worked by the way!)
i've got a descaler out of Argos for about a fiver. works well and it lasts ages. i think its a rowena one.
Did you mean Rowenta lobster?
Kilrock descaler always worked for me - probably available at your friendly local ironmonger in the parade of shops about ten minutes outside your local town centre. Comes in a plastic bottle with a yellow child safe top.
This is what I've been doing for years - half fill a kettle with water, add some powdered citric acid (available most cheaply I found from asian grocery shops) and bring it to the boil with the lid off. Let it rapidly boil, you will see the limescale dissolve in front of your eyes! Boil it for a minute or two, depending how bad it is and then either discard the water of fill your tea cups/mugs/pot that are tea stained and leave them to soak. Then fill your empty kettle with fresh tap water re-boil with nothing added and then discard. Hey Presto! In the meantime poor the water out of you cups etc and give them a wash with a scourer with a drop of washing up liquid and the stains come off esily from those too.
Oust - pack of 2 sachets from Tesco about 1.00 for 2
