faulty football shirt
my son purchased an arsenal football shirt last september, in November the logo on the front came unstuck and has peeled off which has spoiled the shirt, we returned it to the shop (without a receipt) and the manager said there has been loads returned and it was a fault with the shirt, he offered an exchange but they did not have the correct size, they have now told us that they will not be stocking the shirt, I called the customer services dept of the store, who very bluntley told me that without a receipt there was nothing they could do. Is this correct?

Doesn't have to be a receipt, could be statement showing the card/cheque payment instead. If paid cash, then much more difficult to prove.
The fact that the manager has admitted the problem could help, maybe you could discuss an exchange for something different or credit note. Doesn't change that fact that you need proof of purchase though.

Not completely right either....if for example you had a couple of friends with you at the time of purchase, you can use them in affect as proof of purchase.
If they chance their arm and say they hold CCTV and you were not accompanied at that time, then you can use the CCTV as proof of purchase.
I think your best bet is to go into the shop when it is very busy and kick up a stink.....it works for me!
