due to an accident at work i have been put on light duties.i am unhappy with this arrangement as i don't like what the work involves.am i bound by law to carry on my light duties

i suspect it depends on what your contract of employment states
From a Health & Safety viewpoint your employer could make themselves liable if they allowed you to do work for which you were medically unfit and you then either had a further accident or injury as a result. If you don't have access to a company doctor who can recertify you as "fit", check with your GP. However, there is no point in you trying to undertake certain duties if you are not sufficiently fit to carry them out.
