am i still liable for a debt thats been sold on?

i owed capital one 1000 which they were unable to recover from me they have now sold that debt on, am i still liable for this debt as ive not signed any agreement with them and is there some data protection issues

Im sorry to say that your liable for the debt any also any additional charges that have been incurred by who brought the debt, your on very shaky ground, as it could easily end up in court , where youd get a ccj, *there on your credit record for 6 years, realy effects your future credit.
Whilst I apriciate that some of the money owed will be from charges etc. You need to make arrangements to start paying, even if its small amounts, but regular.
have you cpnsidered you may be able to make a claim, against Capital one for unfair charges, goto the following site

in the seach bpx put in bank charges, ( applies to credit cards), and they have templates of letters.
