getting there is simplicity itself... a bus from the central square in Bergamo passes right by the entry ,by a furnicular railway to centro alto. The journey takes about five minutes if that. When you get to the furnicular it runs every few minutes and takes but a few minutes. The alto is fill of narrow streets, lots to see and when you get out at the far end you must visit the cafe/restruant on the corner near where the bus back to town goes from and have a drink with the most delicious nibbles. Although you could catch a bus there if you are feeling fit then beside this cafe is a walkway which takes you passed another furnicular and then a left hand turn and a slow meander up a hill rather steep which brings you finally to an old historical site with lovely views over bergamo and the olive drenched hillsiders behind. Then walk back down throuigh the alto and don't pass the old theatre without going into to see it.
Have a good time. DaveM
