It's OK becca someone else will have the answer I 'm sure I've seen a really good diagram on another thread about penguins falling over and how they pick themselves up. Apparently their legs go up a long way in their funny little bodies. Sorry can't find the other thread. Will keep trying!
Penguin's knees are plainly visible here.
You'll see the ankles are clear of the ground. Like all birds, penguins walk on their toes.
I assure you I have two fully functional knees (well, except for a touch of arthritis). Who has been spreading these nasty rumours about me? What have I done to deserve this persecution. I have enough to bother about from the leopard seals and killer whales without having these aspersions cast on here. They'll be claiming elephants don't have knees next!
