hi iv started a new job 2 week ago its only washing up in a kitchen the other lady started the same day as me now there is only 4 of us there but they all whisper to each other it really upsets me do oyu think om being silly or what do i say something or just ignore it please help x

There is nothing worse than being unhappy in your job through things like this. Try and start a conversation and see what happens.Ask their opinion on the colour of skirt you should buy anything like that. Catering is not the friendliest of jobs. I lasted 3 weeks in a job due to ganging up by the other two, I hope it gets better for you.

perhaps its just that they don't want to be heard chatting instead of working by the boss?
do they talk normally at other times?

like peapod says get involved, start a chat, take some biccies or chocs to share with them or something.

if you stand there feeling paranoid and too scared to speak because you think they are talking about you, just think how that may appear to them...?
if they are not talking about you and you make no effort with them, they may just be thinking you are being rude, snotty, snobby, shy, perhaps even superior, whatever - but they won't like it.

perhaps one day suggest a quick drink after work?

bear in mind, sometimes you just click with people and feel very comfortable chatting away and feel on the same wavelength, with other people you don't - maybe they just feel like they have met a kindred spirit/friend for life, in this other woman and haven't even realised they are leaving you out.

you sound young and shy, so just be bold.

also, if it turns out that they are in fact just nasty bullies, buy yourself an Ipod and just go in, switch it on and do your job and ignore them, then go home to your real pals - don't even give them the time of day
