does anybody have any information of my mothers family her parents were Hannah& thomas Wilkinson and lived at 2 South View Newtown Houhgton le Spring in the early 1920s.

What information ar eyou looking for? If you are looking to trace backwards and find their parents then you need to get some certificates.

Do you have your mothers birth certificate or does she know her mothers maiden name? Once you know this, you can look for a marriage between Hannah and Thomas. Get their marriage certificate and you will find out how old they were when they married and also the names of their fathers. You can then find their birth certificates and keep working backwards like that.

Have a look on www.rootsweb.com and register on the mailing list for Wilkinson (its free and just an email message board). There are lots of people on there researching particular names and you might find someone else who is researching the same people as you.

Also try www.genesreunited.co.uk I found not only my first cousin who I haven't seen in thirty years on there but also some distant cousins, one of whom has traced that branch of the family back to the 17th Century.
