He asked me today: "Mummy, Why do boys have willy's?" I hadn't thought about my reply so i just said.... "Erm... so they can wee standing up."
What kind of answer is that!? I didn't know what to say! I think he is too young to give any more information just yet. Until then, what can i say? I'm sure i haven't heard the last of this topic!
What did you get told? Or what did you tell your kids at this age?
my little lad of eight, ran downstairs one time, he was really worried because, apparently....... milk had come out of his penis, .......well imagine my job of trying to explain about men and boys having this stuff called semen in their teticles, and when excited it comes out, so embarressing.
I had to try tell my 3 yr old that it was normal for his willy (or todger as we call it) to point up some thimes. He was most upset because he couldnt put it in his underpants, "it wont stay down daddy" he said. I was very embaressed. I didny know these things happened at his age. Must be a morning thing.
hi sair that's what i told my kids they don't need to know anything at that age. He will probably be happy with that explanation until he's around 8 or 9. That's when they need a bit more of the truth.
My 3 boys also were discussing their "boners" they now call them "standy uppies" .
I only ever wanted a girl.
its not a terrible thing to talk about i have told both my kids about the birds and trhe bees its a bit tricky to start with and a bit cringeworthy but once you start you just sort of get on with it obviously you have to explain it in a way they will understand but it certainly wont do them any harm to know will it and they will hear it from one of thier friends sooner or later anyway better they get the right facts than the wrong ones.
it all started with me wen my boy was about 5 or 6 in a public toilet and he wanted to play on the condom machine, one thing led to another and by the time id finished we had covered the whole lot from intercourse to delivery :~/
ps good luck what ever you decide
i was told about the birds n the bees when i was 5 because thats when i asked my mum "where do babies come from?" she got me some lovely books! theres actually a really good usborne one...cant remember what its called but for a chld of four it will just give guide to what parents can say eg how to word things then as he gets older hell be able to read it himself, it covers everything- straight and gay sex, love, pregnancy, birth, relationships its really good and straight forward!
