when are bitches in season
3 Answers
Our 8 month old german shephard is very quiet just now and I was wondering if she may be coming time of her first season. I just want to know if it is still abit early for her or if you think this is what it might be she seems a bit down and off her food a little but so far that is the only signs of anything wrong with her. If so how long will it last?

Remember all dogs are different. I have kept GSD's for 30 odd years and none of them have been the same!
Just keep a close eye on your dog and of course if you are worried, give your vet a ring, they will advise you.

My bitch is on the 3rd week of her 2nd season. The first came out of the blue, she was hardly swollen and it was just a short season lasting about 2 1/2 weeks. This time, she's been a lot more swollen, more bleeding but cleaning herself more and its lasted longer. The usual is 21-23days. She may have the runs or sickness, she may go off her food altogether. Let her get on with the cleaning herself otherwise she wont learn how to keep herself clean
