does anyone know the meaning of the latin motto "vera petendo"? any help appreciated. AR

Have you got all the letters right ?
I think it is part of a quote (as it looks like an ablative absolute and the were phrases away from the subject of the sentence)
but unfortunately if it is a gerund, there should be an accusative in it
and if it is a gerundive (because gerunds with an accusative were not good practice) then the noun should agree with the gerundive, and it doesnt look as though it does
anyway that is a start
